Description
- Near mint (still in shrink-wrap) very hard to find Max Steiner Music Society private label LP with the score to the 1956 John Ford directed classic Western film "The Searchers" (Citadel CT-M5-5). The Searchers, starring John Wayne, is considered one of the greatest of all Westerns.
- This album was only made available to Max Steiner Music Society members and was not licensed for public sale.
- Also on the album is the Max Steiner score to the 1947 Robert Mitchum movie "Pursued".
- The back cover includes excellent liner notes about the films, the music and the composer.
- The LP is visually near mint with just a few light marks. It consists of transfers to tape of original acetates owned by the composer and as a result the liner notes state: "…allowances must be made for a degree of deterioration of sound quality". I play graded the LP and confirmed that the sound quality is less than that found on a studio recording so you should expect surface noise. It is not at all overwhelming but bidders should take this under consideration. The still in shrink-wrap cover, with great ink drawings of John Wayne and Robert Mitchum, is in near mint condition with no splits, tears or cutouts.
