JUST CLEAN YOUR PREFERRED METHOD

(I do not clean records prior to listing, as some people prefer to clean with their own method, being that I buy Lots of records there isn't enough time in the day for me to clean & listen to everyone, so you might find finger prints, dust and other assorted things, that should clean off easily, one of these days when I sell a record for $1000 I promise to buy a VPI record cleaning system)

Some clairification on my terminology for grading records.

I do use Golmine's Record grading Standards with some slight modifications

When I visually grade a record and use the term VG+/NM- or G/VG- it means some people would grade this record VG+ some would grade this NM-

when I use the Grade VG to VG+or G to VG- it falls somewhere inbetween both grades.

Vinyl Definitions:

My definition of a scratch:

"Regular Scratch" is a scratch that you can feel with a thumb nail and it sometimes will produce an audible click or pop, if it produces a repedative click I will note that.

a "Lite scratch" is a scratch that is visible but produces no audible sound.

a "Hair line scratch" is a scratch that is visible only under a strong lite or in day light, and is not audible, many people have refered to these as scuffs.

a "Scuff" is the mark made by the paper sleeve when one puts back or takes out the record and the edge of the page mars the record very very lightly, most are inaudible.

A "mark" is made by , say the brushing of a fingernail across the grooves it can look like a scuff and is inaudible, but it is a notable visible flaw.

A slight warp is a record that has a very light warp that will allow the tone arm to track the record without any audible discractions.

I will not knowingly sell a record with a warp that will will not track in my Turntable.

For Play Grading I use one of the following: A Dual 1209 Turn table w/ a Micro Acoustics 530 Mp cartridge. for High end,High $$$ or audiophile records (ie: Mobile Fidelity's Columbia Half Speed masters Etc.) or a Sony PST3 w/ a Shure M91E cartridge for all purpose General release records, that is connected to my computer. If you wish a CD burned from the record you buy, I can do that just ask in advance before you pay as there will be a Nominal charge for this service (about $3-5 depending on the lenght of the album, wheather is a multi Lp set and so fourth) I record wholes side as one "Cut" or track, if you wish for individual tracks then it will be more, depending on the number of tracks and records in the set.

?

When I play Grade a record, some times I listen to the entire record, some times I spot check the places that appear questionable it all depends on how many records I'm listing and the desireability of a given selection.I use my discression as it take considerable time to listen every record I list ( and I've been listing 10 -20 records week for near 10 years now)

All the Above Grading terminology is the same for records that are play graded versed Visually graded.

When I mention "Random pops and clicks" it's just that, a ramdom pop or click here and there, that MIGHT be made by a single piece of dirt or other foreign material in the grooves, these have been known to disappear when a record is thourghly cleaned using a VPI record cleaning system or the like, it can even disappear when cleaned by using a Discwasher brush and cleaning fluid.

When I mention just pops and clicks they are a bit more predominate than the random pop or click and can be heard by the most descriminating of ears. and usually heard in the quite passages of a song and the silence in between tracks or in the first grooves or in the trail off area.

Surface Noise is like pops and clicks only the sound is heard thru out the recording, I will mention to what degree it is; ie: "some what noticible" (mostly heard in quite passages or between songs) "Noticible" is heard but does not overwhelnm the audio persentation, or "Very Noticible, it will sound like Pop corn popping.

Matrix Numbers and other Dead Wax scribblings are available upon request and will be posted to the listing when you "ASK Seller a question". Sometimes I will post them if I think (or know) that they are important such as Peco or Ducky or RL on Led Zeppelin recordings, ommission of these does not necesslary mean they are not there , please ask if you want to be sure.

?

Grading Jackets:

I will rarely grade a jacket Mint or Near Mint, unless it's un opened ( mint-with no noticible flaws) or it still has the shrink wrap on it for NM-

If I mention Perimiter Creases, these are the Tiny 1/2"-1 1/2" lite crease that are made from handling a jacket (it happens to all jackets that are held for a period of time that are around the perimiter, Should I mention a CREASE that is where the jacket has been bent or mis handled and will be noted by it's location (ie: Top Left Corner Front).

Stickers are generally removable with some Goo Gone or sometimes with Denatured alcohol, I never use Rubbing Alcohol on a jacket as it will stain a jacket or discolour  whats underneath the sticker, Mostly I try to remove All stickers by hand, thus sometimes leaving a small dent from my fingernails, alot of the time I will make no attempt to remove stickers and leave it up to you the buyer, If I say "Sticker Residue" its made by the gule that remains from me removing a sticker or the fading on the jacket from where a sticker once was.

Lite or Very lite surface, ring, edge, and corner wear, is just that, lite wear that is noticible but does not distract from the art work, most lite ring wear is ring wear that leaves less than 50 % of the circle,

Moderate wear is a ring that is between 50% to 100% circular, or light nicks and dings or lite fraying on the edges and corners,

Heavy wear is a circle on the jacket that has worn beyond the paper paste over and shows the grey cardboard underneath. or shows cardboard on the seams and corners

Crushed or dinged corners are just that, a corner that has possibly been dropped and is not 100% crisp and clean and at 90 degrees at the tips.

1" saw mark refers to how far the saw mark travels into the jacket not the width of the saw mark.

Split seams: When I mention 4" from opening that means it starts at the opening and travels to approx 4" along that seam, 3" center seam splits are splits on the top bottom or on the spine that are centered, usually made from the edge of the record shifting about in the jacket.

"Generic Sleeves" is any sleeve that is not origional to the origional issue.sometimes I use other record companies sleeves to replace a torn or tattered origional sleeve

"Custom sleeves" are specific to a particular release and contain photos, song lyrics, production credits or art work.

RCA(or other company) Sleeve is a sleeve from that specific record company that is consistant with the time period or to that specific release. (some Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Doors, CCR and others have sleeves that show the entire catalog of that specific artist)

?

and Finally PHOTOs I generally will show the front and back of single lp listing and most times on a Multiple Lp listings, If you want me to show a specific area or flaw please ask but make sure you ask 48 hrs. in advance of the listings end, that will give me time to take the photo, process it and post it before the 24 hour cut off for Revising or changing a listing that E-Bay imposes on sellers.
