This record was sold and then returned to me (unfortunately, with a couple of extra scratches) because the buyer either did not agree with my grading (which I felt was accurate and detailed, but hey, you can’t please everyone) or had buyer’s remorse. It has been reinspected, play-tested ON MY EQUIPMENT (Rega P3/Elys 2/ and a few Groovetracer upgrades) and, according to Goldmine is in AT LEAST GD+ and quite possibly very good condition (their condition grading for a VG record is as follows):
“VG records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail. When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and ending. But the noise will not overpower the music otherwise.”
In my opinion, this record more than meets the criteria for a G to GD+ to possibly even a VG record. Let’s call it GOOD conservatively, just to be safe The vinyl is still very glossy. There is virtually ZERO groove wear and the label is nice. This particular vinyl has a few scratches and scuffs and a couple of them can definitely be felt with a fingernail. There are NO SKIPS when played on MY EQUIPMENT (YMMV).. When played, there is definite surface noise, pops and some audible noise from the few scratches. It is not perfect by any means, but it is not horrible either. This would be a perfectly fine copy for your collection until something better comes along, as it is far from unlistenable or trashed. Again, this is on my equipment so your results may differ.
Goldmine describes a VG cover as:
VG covers will have many signs of human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious, though not overwhelming. Some more creases might be visible. Seam splitting will be more obvious; it may appear on all three sides, though it won’t be obvious upon looking. Someone might have written or it or stamped a price tag on it, too.
Outer Jacket - Again according to Goldmine this particular cover is VG Overall. The jacket shows some ringwear, very light corner dings and very light minor creasing and edgewear consistent with a 40 year old record. Light residue on the back where there was probably a small price sticker (almost can’t be seen)There is an approximately two inch seam split (it’s actually where the jacket has come unglued. It can be easily repaired. See photo)
Inner sleeve is original (plastic with small blue WB logos on it) and in nice shape except for being a little wrinkled.
