Text from the Jacket:

Standing on the Mountain
The Skyland Singers

Approximately nineteen years ago in the mountains of North Carolina, a group of Gospel Singers began praising God in song in the community churches. Since then, they have traveled in many areas of America, singing and ministering to thousands of people. This family group was organized by Bob Oaks and consists of Bob and wife Lucille, Robert Dwan Oaks and wife Rita, Lloyd Johnson and wife Sherry, and Lynda Benny Johnson.

The Skyland Singers lift up their eyes unto the hills and raise their voices in singing praises unto the Lord: the Way, the Truth and the Life. I have written a little poem for this album. I think it fits the title song real well. Paul and Silas sang and prayed while round and round in jail they plod. Today we sing and travel in their same path on the mountain top with God.

Many of the songs in this album were written or arranged by The Skyland Singers under the leadership and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. I was inspired to write these words after hearing The Skyland Singers sing these beautiful songs. To the Christians of every tribe, nation, kindred and tongue, and to the sinners who are adrift on the stormy sea of life: may these songs inspire and enthrall you as they have me.

A friend in Christ,
Charles Damon Vance
