Description
The Smiths 1st press vinyl records "six in total" all 1st press originals!!
We have for sale the 1st two studio albums, one 12" singles, one extended play, plus two 7" singles all 1st presses!! (Please see photos)
- The Smiths - This self titled album is their debut album from rough trade records in 1984 and reached No2 in the charts. Matrix numbers in run out groove read Rough 61 A2 Rough 61 B4 - the sleeve and inner are in excellent condition and are still in the plastic shrinkwrap with HMV sticker and Sale sticker complete (Please see photos) The vinyl itself is in generally good used condition with no skips or jumps. There is however a small graze at the very beginning of track 1 side 1 which clicks and faintly skips for three seconds but other than it is good to go!
- The Smiths Meat is Murder - this is their second and most famous album which hit No1 in 1985. Produced by rough trade this album, another 1st press, has the super early matrix numbers in the run out groove which read TM/RT 81 A and TM/RT 81 B. Its sleeve and inner are also in great condition. The vinyl is also in very good condition with no skips or jumps whatsoever, an all round great example of a 1st press. (Please see photos)
- The Smiths The Peel Sessions - this is a legendary and very rare recording by the Strange Fruit label for John Peel and Radio 1. This E.P was recorded in May 1983 just before The Smiths second hit album and is one of the most sought after of their recordings. as very few were produced. This is an original 1st press! with Matrix numbers in the run out groove which read SFP 0055 A1 and SFP 0055 B1 and is also stamped with "adrenalin" in both run out grooves. Both the sleeve and vinyl are in excellent condition. (Please see photos)
- The Smiths Sheila Take a Bow - is a 12" single from 1987 and was again produced by Rough Records and is again an original 1st press with matrix numbers in the run out groove that read RT 196 A1 and RT 196 B1. Both the sleeve, inner and vinyl are in excellent condition and sound and look as good as the day they were bought!! No skips or jumps. (Please see photos)
- The Smiths Heaven knows I'm miserable Now - is a 7" single from 1984 and is a very rare original 1st press in original sleeve. The matrix numbers in the run out groove confirm its rarity and reads RT 156 A2U and RT 156 B1U. The record plays great with no skips or jumps however the sleeve is worn around the edge but complete with no tears or rips. (Please see photos)
- The Smiths I started something I couldn't finish - is a 7" single from 1987 which was again produced by Rough Trade records. It is a very interesting original 1st press with matrix numbers in the run out groove which read RT 198 A1 and RT 198 B1 but also text which reads "Murder at the Wool Hall (X) starring Sheridan Whiteside" on one side and "You are believing you do not want to sleep" on the other. It is also the Avril Angers picture cover which is in excellent condition. The vinyl single plays very well with no skips or jumps. (Please see photos)
For the benefit of the obsessed collectors. These copies have been played and some have commensurate age related patina on the sleeves and vinyl. Please look at the photos which form part of the description as well as the description. If however you are one of these obsessed collectors who wants no marks on the vinyl and complains about creases on the inner or "tatty" edges on the sleeve and phantom hisses or crackles between tracks and who basically wants a brand new "vintage" record then these are not for you, Look elsewhere please!!!
If however you are a true Smiths fan and want 1st press classic vinyls to actually play, enjoy the art on the covers, and sing along with the inner and just plain enjoy, then this is for you and I hope one of you get the collection!!
