The Smiths - 'Hatful Of Hollow' First Run White Label LP - 1984

The 'Hatful Of Hollow' LP was promoted in the UK at the time of its release by white label copies of the record which were sent out to radio stations. Examples of this promotional vinyl which remain in good condition have become extremely collectable and difficult to get hold of in recent times. As explained in the Record Collector article of 2005, the very first examples of this white label LP were sent out in sleeves which were mispressed - the 'dot' on the reverse of the sleeve between the track titles for 'Accept Yourself' and 'Girl Afraid' is missing. This is a small detail, but distinguishes between examples of the very first run of white label test pressings and adds to their value and collectability. This copy for auction is one of those in the mispressed sleeves (see photo) and the record can be identified as a first-run press by the "A1" and "B1" matrix numbers in the run-out grooves of the vinyl. This particular example is in outstanding condition (see below) and you may not see another for sale in this condition for some time!?The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, having been played very few times and being remarkably well preserved. The vinyl has no visible surface marks and retains its glossy sheen. The mispressed gatefold outer sleeve is in strong excellent condition, having just some minor corner wear and some minor 'rubbing' at the top edge towards the spine. Otherwise there are no major signs of wear, there is no damage or writing and there are no significant creases. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
