The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'How Soon Is Now' US 12" - 1985

This auction is the original 1985 US pressing of 'How Soon Is Now?', which is seen much less often than the UK version, and is notable for several reasons. The artwork used for the sleeve is different to that which was used on other pressings, and comprises a photograph of the band which was taken at Glastonbury in 1984. Although the photograph had appeared inside the gatefold sleeve of the 'Hatful Of Hollow' LP, this version is cropped (with Mike Joyce appearing on the reverse of the sleeve here) and is printed in colour unlike the 'Hatful Of Hollow' version. The artwork is highly unusual in that it is one of the very few places that Morrissey ever appeared on an official sleeve of a Smiths release, and cannot be found anywhere else since the 7" US counterpart came in a plain yellow sleeve with no artwork. This record is also the first ever Smiths 12" to be released in the United States, and there would not be another until 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side'. This pressing has a different tracklisting to other releases of the single, being the only version to carry 'Girl Afraid' as well as the 'Phil Brown' edit version of 'How Soon Is Now?' which was only ever released in the US and Canada. This is a very nice original Smiths collectable 12" which is offered here in a very well-preserved state, having been kept in its original opened shrink-wrap from 1985 (see below) to protect the condition of the sleeve.The record and labels are in strong excellent condition, having been played a few times but extremely well looked after; there are just some very light superficial surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl in a few places which can only be seen if held to the light. The original clear plastic inner sleeve is also present. The rare outer sleeve is also in strong excellent condition, retaining its original shrink-wrap which has been neatly opened to allow access to the record inside. There is just one moderate but unobtrusive crease towards the bottom right hand corner, but no other signs of significant wear other than mild 'corner wear' at the upper corners and a corner 'bump' at the top right. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail showing the actual record and sleeve for sale; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
