The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'This Charming Man' Japanese 12" - 1984

This auction is for a very rare and collectable 1984 Japanese pressing of 'This Charming Man' on 12" vinyl. As noted in the 2005 Record Collector article, in which the record was listed at Number 42, original 'Tokuma' label Japanese pressings such as this have become extremely desirable in recent times. This is due to a combination of their being pressed on high-quality heavyweight vinyl, with lavish packaging, and being issued in limited numbers; the sound quality is also renowed for being exceptional. This is actually the first Smiths single to be released in Japan, and was issued a year later than its release in other countries. This copy is extemely rare in that not only has it survived in outstanding condition (see below), but it is complete with both its original OBI strip and rare Japanese lyrics insert. This is a record which very rarely appears on the market.The vinyl and labels are in superb near mint condition, having been played just once or twice but having been exceptionally well looked after; there are no visible surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl, which is as-new in appearance. The rare Japanese lyric paper insert is also in near mint condition, with no marks or creases anywhere. The outer sleeve is additionally in near mint condition, with no marks, creasing or seam splits and having strong sharp edges with not even any 'corner wear' on this superb sleeve. The OBI strip is in strong excellent condition, with no marks but just a faint crease near the top half and the smallest of tiny tears very near the top edge. This very small tear (shown in Photo 4) is quite hard to see and consequently does not spoil the appearance of the sleeve. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.

Postage and Packing is 2.50 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below).
