Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.
The Smiths - The Second Eight UK 12" Single Releases: 1986 - 1987
This auction is for the second eight of the original UK Rough Trade Smiths 12" vinyl single releases, of which there were sixteen not counting sleeve variations or the remix version of 'This Charming Man'. These original-pressing 12" singles are becoming increasingly rare as time goes by, and it is getting more and more difficult to find examples in terrific condition, such as these are, that you would want for your own collection; these 12" singles have been extremely well looked-after with the records having been stored outside of the sleeves in most cases. The copy of 'Girlfriend In A Coma' has a slightly misprinted black inner sleeve whereby the "RTT 197" catalogue number in white lettering appears 'blurred'. Some of these are harder to track down these days than others, and as such have risen more in value relative to the rest; none of these 12" singles have been re-issued by Rhino or otherwise. All of these 12" singles are in their original picture sleeves and are complete with their original inner sleeves, and this is not an excuse to sell sub-standard condition 12"s by virtue of the fact that they are sold as a collection. All of these 12" singles, even after almost 30 years, are all in absolutely terrific collectable condition; all of the records being in near mint condition and the sleeves being in at least strong excellent condition (full details below). There is no writing on any of the sleeves and there are no scratches on the vinyl. Don't miss this opportunity to get hold of such a superb collection before they become unobtainably rare, with the cost of postage being much lower than buying and shipping these individually or in small groups. The condition in detail is as follows:
'Bigmouth Strikes Again' (Cat: RTT 192): The vinyl is in near mint condition, having seen very little play and with only the very lightest of 'hairline' superficial surface marks in just a few places. The 'purple'-coloured inner sleeve is intact and undamaged with no creases or splitting. The terrific outer picture sleeve is in at least strong excellent condition, being completely flat and glossy with sharp edges and no creases. There is just some mild edge wear in places along the bottom edge but no other visible signs of wear or seam-splitting on this superb example of the sleeve.
'Panic' (Cat: RTT 193): The vinyl is in near mint condition, with just some light 'hairline' surface marks in a few places. The 'light blue' inner sleeve is undamaged and intact with no edge-splitting or creases anywhere. The outer picture sleeve is in at least strong excellent condition, being glossy with sharp edges and just some very mild corner wear in places. There is no seam-splitting, and no creases to spoil its appearance.
'Ask' (Cat: RTT 194): The vinyl is in near mint condition, having been played once or twice only with nothing other than the lightest of 'hairline' superficial surface marks in one or two places. The original 'pink/red' inner sleeve is unmarked and undamaged with no splits or creases. The picture outer sleeve is glossy and also in near mint condition, with just some edge wear towards one corner but otherwise no creases, seam-splitting or signs of wear anywhere.
'Shoplifters Of The World Unite' (Cat: RTT 195): The vinyl is in near mint condition with just extremely light superficial surface marks in one or two places which can only be seen if the record is held to the light. The original 'pink/red' inner sleeve has no marks and is undamaged with no creases or splitting. The outer picture sleeve is flat, glossy and in at least strong excellent condition, with practically no signs of wear anywhere other than some edge wear towards one corner.
'Sheila Take A Bow' (Cat: RTT 196): The vinyl is in near mint condition, being highly glossy and played just once or twice with only the lightest of 'hairline' surface marks in one or two places. The original picture inner sleeve is also extremely glossy with no splitting or creases. The picture outer sleeve is also in near mint condition, with some edge wear in one corner being the only discernable sign of wear; the sleeve being very flat and glossy with no creases or seam-splitting.
'Girlfriend In A Coma' (Cat: RTT 197): The vinyl is in near mint condition, and has been played a few times but remains glossy and well looked after with just some light 'hairline' surface marks on the vinyl. The original 'black' coloured inner sleeve has some minor 'rippling' but no splits or other signs of wear; the catalogue number "RTT 197" is misprinted to be slightly 'blurred'. The outer picture sleeve is in at least strong excellent condition, with just some minor corner and edge wear in a few places but with sharp edges and no creases or seam-splitting anywhere.
'I Started Something I Couldn't Finish' (Cat: RTT 198): The vinyl is in near mint condition, appearing unplayed with barely even any 'hairline' surface marks on the highly-glossy vinyl. The original 'green' inner sleeve has no significant creasing and has no splitting. The outer picture sleeve is also in near mint condition, being flat and glossy with no creases or seam-splitting and just some minor edge wear towards one corner.
'Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me' (Cat: RTT 200): The vinyl is in near mint condition, appearing unplayed and being highly glossy with practically no 'hairline' surface marks on the vinyl. The original 'black' inner sleeve has no creasing or splitting and looks superb. The picture outer sleeve is also in near mint, having sharp edges with no seam-splitting or creases and just some mild edge wear towards one corner.
The new owner is certain to be very happy with these Smiths releases on now-increasingly-rare original vinyl pressings.
Please see the accompanying photos; note that the Ebay ID lettering is just on the pictures and not on the records themselves.
All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 7.00 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers but still subsidised and very good value, particularly when compared with the cost of having these sent individually or in small groups; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this free site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
