Promo Poster Board from HMV Manchester

You are bidding for an original promotional board used in 1987 at HMV in Manchester to promote The Smiths Strangeways Here We Come. The image was used on the back cover of the album. The board is made of stiff card which cannot be bent. The colors are turquoise, gold and white. Your poster board measures 30” long x 26” wide.

The poster/ board features the road sign that (before alteration) displayed directions to Piccadilly, St. Peter’s Square, Ancoats, Strangeways and Salford). The original road sign was taken down by the council in the early 1990s. The dome and building in the background is Parkers Hotel (now an apartment block but the ‘Parkers’ sign is still up) at the junction of Corporation Street and Cheetham Hill Road. The lamp post is still standing.

This is an incredibly rare item – I am told only about 10 were made.
The poster board has some storage wear to the edges and corners and a pin hole in each of the top corners. Please note that if you framed this you would be unable to see any of these marks. There are some surface marks on the board but nothing much to worry about – it would certainly look good framed on any wall. I have taken lots of photos for you to enlarge & look at closely so that you can see what a good condition it is in.
