Description
For sale; LP copy of 'The Queen is Dead' in original gatefold sleeve. I assume this is a contemporary 80's copy; sleeve and LP are marked ROUGH 96, and the cover displays a pink 'Includes the Singles....' sticker. Run-out grooves are marked 'Fear of Manchester/Them was rotten days'. Sleeve is in good condition, showing only minor handling marks and some corner/edge wear. Inner sleeve is in very good condition. The LP itself is pretty clean but does have some light but noticeable scratching/scuffing, mainly, I'm guessing, from having been slid in and out of its sleeve so many times! I've played it through (and thoroughly enjoyed it) twice; both sides play reliably with little obtrusive surface noise or distortion; surface noise is only really apparent between songs. In short, it's a decent used, but not abused, copy for playing, rather than framing, and sounds just like a Smiths LP should sound - if you want a silent background, go buy the CD!
Reason for selling? I bought this copy 2nd hand as back-up to the LP I bought new in the 80s. Since I mostly listen to albums in the kitchen or in the car (neither of which is equipped with a record player) I can't really justify keeping a spare which never gets played. Thinking about it, I've a funny feeling that I've got a back-up copy to this back-up copy somewhere. Ah, what the heck; it makes me feel sixteen again, and I can't say that about many things these days...
