Description

For sale is one of the most unusual records I have ever come across. 

For sale is what I believe is an extremely scarce white label test Pressing of William it was really nothing with the b side playing please please please let me get what I want. 

This record has the code RT 166 A and RT 166 B 

Matrix numbers 

Side a: RT 166 A -1U-1-1- (then a 3 or J)written in the run off groove are the words THE IMPOTENCE OF ERNEST 


Side b: RT 166 B - 1U-1-1(then a 3 or a J)  written in the run off groove are the words ROMANTIC AND SQUARE IS HIP AND AWARE 


writing in the labels - on side a the letters AJ at the bottom of the label and to the left x25 - assuming this is the amount produced? 


From research I have seen very few ever been up for sale.


The vinyl is I would grade as a vg-. There is light surface wear to both sides. When held in the light there is light marks however these are all superficial. Side b has a few small marks (check close up image) which I do believe could be removed or cleaned somewhat if given a proper professional clean. I do not own a disc cleaner but I do believe this will enhance the sound. I have listened to both sides and they play almost exactly the same in sound quality. At the beginning of both sides there is background noise and side a has a small crackle. This noise disappears after 2 or 3 seconds and the record plays extremely well both sides. At the end of the song when the music finishes again there is some light background noise that can be heard. 

I have cleaned by hand and the sound has improved drastically so a professional clean I really believe will only enhance this great sound even more.


The centre of the record has been adapted to have a hollow centre. Perhaps it was originally like that? Other possibility is that this was a jukebox Pressing? 

There are no cracks/chips and the label is clean and very presentable. 


This is not a mint copy but is still a fantastic copy in extremely playable condition.
