Die-cut novelty "risque" gears cover uncensored Keeper Copy of Influential Psychedelia
The first album by The Soft Machine. Original Probe Records LP with the moving die-cut cover in great working order. The gatefold cover is in very good condition with good color; there is some age wear. The vinyl is in excellent condition. The original owner (a very good friend of mine) took care of his records and used a high-end turntable. This record was played probably fewer than 5-6 times (frankly we were not very fond of it back then). The Soft Machine was considered an experimental psychedelic group, tilting toward jazz.
FYI: The Soft Machine, formed in 1966, became one of the first British psychedelic acts, and later moved into progressive and jazz rock instrumentals exclusively. During late 1966 and early 1967, Soft Machine became involved in the early UK underground scene, along with Pink Floyd. Like Floyd they became one of the major resident bands at the UFO Club, and played other London clubs like the Speakeasy and Middle Earth. The band name comes from the William S. Burroughs's novel The Soft Machine.
