The Sound Of The Moog demonstration 33 1/3 7" EP flexi disc soundsheet (early 1970s)
Produced by Moog Music, Inc.
From the early days of analog synthesizers, a promotional item distributed by Moog.
Official Moog Studio composer-in-residence Chris Swansen recorded some cool funky electronic jazz instrumentals for this two-sided ep, which features spoken narration extolling the wonders of Moog products ("Exciting, dramatic, evocative, expressive - this is the Moog Synthesizer, the most important musical development of our decade...") backed by weird synth noises, explanations of tone shaping and synthesis techniques, and excerpts of popular recordings that show off the Moog (Beaver & Krause, Emerson Lake & Palmer...). Jim Johnston is the narrator; Swansen is credited as musical director. This demo record does not advertise a specific synth, but rather serves as a brand-building PR item promoting the innovative significance of the full Moog line.
