Recorded for a mere £700 and initially distributed by Rough Trade. These Rough Trade issues came with a plain white sleeve stamped by the band themselves with the words THE SPECIAL A.K.A 'Gangsters' Vs THE SELECTER. This stamped sleeve was limited to 5000 copies. The B side was a demo that was recorded a few years before its release by Neol Davies, John Bradbury and Barry Jones and came complete with its own unique catalogue number: TT2: © 1979 ℗ Desert Songs ATV.
This first edition is the original Rough Trade distributed issue. These issues came with a plain white sleeve stamped by the band themselves with the words 'THE SPECIAL A.K.A Gangsters Vs THE SELECTER'.
The first pressing hand-stamped sleeve edition was limited to 5000 copies. On this pressing, Gangsters fades out towards the end. The solid centre has a less pronounced, single dip; later pressings have double dips.
Vinyl: Near Mint (NM).
Sleeve: Original Near Mint (NM).
Sleeve and vinyl now housed in a 7″ PVC gatefold sleeve for protection. Vinyl cleaned using the Degritter ultrasonic record cleaning machine and housed in a new anti-static and anti-scratch protective sleeve.
