The Spi-Dells “Take Me As I Am”/“Over The Weekend” Tyme Records 1964. Vinyl condition: VG
The Spi-Dells were a popular five-man rock’n’roll and doo wop group from Southeastern Massachusetts that formed in 1964 and recorded and performed regionally into the 1980s.
Organized in Taunton,Massachusetts, they originally consisted of
Charlie Quintal-Vocals/Lead Guitar.
Don Perry-Vocals/Keyboards
Jimmy King-lead vocals/Saxophone.
Jerry Valee-Vocals/Drums
Jack Andrews-Vocals/Bass Guitar
This lineup recorded for a couple of local labels, Little Town and Tyme Records in 1964-66.
This copy of the Tyme disc, “Take Me As I Am”, influenced by the Duprees’ version, and the Playboys’ “Over The Weekend”, was led by Jimmy King and pressed and sold locally in 1964. It is graded in VG (very good) condition with some scratches and scuffs but no skips.
It comes from the collection of a longtime Massachusetts collector/DJ and friend of the band members, who recently passed.
