BEST PRESSING YET .Making these albums double LPs was a necessity. Vinyl at 33 1/3 RPM can only hold up to 20 minutes per side, but the ideal length is 15-18 minutes. This all depends on the kind of music, of course; quiet folk records without a lot of bass can have longer sides, whereas louder albums with lots of low end bass information require wider grooves and thus shorter sides. The original pressings of these albums were cut way too long for the sides, which compromised the music. When we got the tape transfers, we were amazed at the quality of the records and how wide the frequency spectrum was. After discussing what to do with our remastering engineer, John Baldwin, and cutting engineer, John Golden, it was decided if we wanted these albums to sound their best, double LPs at 33 1/3 RPM was a necessity. We never make albums double LPs to charge more. In fact, I think you’ll find that our albums are very reasonably priced considering the quality of both the audio, vinyl pressings, and print materials.
