I bought this THE DAY that it was released in the states. It's in PHENOMENAL shape and you would need a time machine to find a better one! I played it rarely as I was utilizing the cassette player in my car, and the CD in my portable and home stereo back then. I bought it simply as a fan/completist.
I just played this in its entirety (for the first time in 15 years!?!) to check the condition as the vinyl looks immaculate with only the slightest signs of inner sleeve marks. There are a FEW spots, mostly in the very beginning of each side, where some fuzz can be heard primarily because those tracks are so quiet. I have bought brand new sealed LPs this year that sound worse straight out of the shrink!?! Super shiny vinyl, really looks like it was made yesterday!
Same for the inner sleeve! Crisp and straight and free of bends/tears/etc...with exception to a 3/4" split at the very center of the bottom seam. Typical.
The cover has only the slightest signs of wear on the very outer corners as this has been in a plastic sleeve since coming out of the shrink-wrap and again, was rarely played and has been untouched for 15 years! There is a slight spot of ring pressure on the back but hardly noticeable. I have four versions of this LP and the recent deluxe box so there was no need to touch this copy...LUCKY YOU!
Perhaps best of all, is that when held up to a light....it's transparent brown!!! Whoa!
There is some debate as to which US version came out first, the black lettering or the gold lettering. I was there on release day as I remember bugging the dude at the store to order it (the import was hard to get and very expensive). He ordered two for the store (small town in nowhere) and this was one of them. So, I'm going with gold lettering. There was NEVER a vinyl version with "Fool's Gold" in the states.
There are ZERO returns on this unless it arrives clearly damaged. I've yet to have ANYBODY contradict my grading and have been doing vinyl on ebay for 15 years. I'll not even get into the ads in Goldmine, record shows, managing well-known independent stores, etc....I grade very conservatively.
In short, if this was a must have piece for my collection (and I have many needs), I'd be THRILLED to own a copy in this condition and at this price!
