Description
This is for the Stooges first album, titled "Stooges"
If you are looking at this listing, and seriously considering buying it, you probably already know the band lineup but here it is anyway:
Iggy Stooge / vocals
Ron Asheton / guitar
Dave Alexander / bass
Scott Asheton / drums
And produced by the John Cale, you know, the dude From Velvet Underground.
When the album was originally released, it was not well received by critics of the time so it did not sell very well causing these to be relatively rare especially in the condition that this one is in.
The person that originally owned this album is must not have liked it much either, it does not look like it have had a whole lot of play time. they probably listen to it once and then stuck it on a shelf for the last 40something years.
Now considered to be part of the Genesis of the punk era, copies this clean are hard to find, the jacket appears to have only very minor wear, I can't call a 40 year old cardboard sleeve perfect, but this one is pretty nice.
ln the upper left hand corner of the sleeve has a punch out or cut-out indicating that this one was either given as a promo or returned to the manufacture for not selling.
All the corners, edges, seams and spine look very good.
At some point "Don Kovalik" decided it would be a good idea to write his name on the inside of the jacket, forever linking him to the Stooges, I'm pretty sure not many people care about him though, especially after writing his name on the inside of this jacket.
this copy still contains its original Elektra inner sleeve in excellent condition,
The record itself is extra clean with very minimal wear, again I won't call it perfect but it does not look like this one was used or handled very much.
This will certainly make a nice addition to anyone's collection by the literal grandfather's of punk
