Description
The last of my Portuguese albums going under the hammer, the classic No More Heroes. Many years after forming, it became knowledge to The Stranglers that out of all their albums, the most money was made from the first two releases. This was for 2 reasons. Firstly it was down to sales numbers, but more significantly because the production costs were so low. As the band had been playing these songs live for a couple of years, they had naturally worked on and worked out the mix of each track and they were able to lay them down in the studio virtually live and untouched by producers.
Future albums, sometimes written to order, would require lots of re-workings and significant studio time and costs. Released 5 months after Rattus, the album shows the band at the top of their game with songs that were fast and musically aggressive, a product of their live playing, and something that they would never repeat on vinyl again.
Condition of all great, outer sleeve is excellent and vinyl plays great.
