Description

By The Sweet Amazing Bundle Of 20 x 7” Singles + 3 x Albums/12” Inc Rare Singles.

Brilliant bundle for any Sweet or Glam Rock fan includes a few rare singles that didn’t make the charts & one rare juke box version. Most of the vinyl in at least VG Condition, some of the sleeves have split seams but most st least in Good Condition and sleeves can be upgraded at not too much cost. There are some gaps but this is a really good run of 7” singles with a few additional purchases you can have a complete run from 1971 to the mid 1980’s!

Famous for having the A-Sides being bubblegum pop written by Chinn/Chapman, while the band wrote their own heavier B-Sides that a lot of people at one point thought were an influence on Queen a few years later.

7” Singles

01. Funny Funny released on RCA Records In March 1971 in company sleeve. Sleeve in Good Condition, some creases and 4/1 written in one corner but I’ve seen a lot worse! Vinyl in VG+ condition some very light marks only seen in light. No writing or ring wear on label.

Side One: Funny Funny

Side Two: You’re Not Wrong For Loving Me.

02. Co-Co released on RCA Records in 1971 and reaching number 2 in the charts. Sleeve in VG Condition no splits or rips. Vinyl in VG+ Condition, no marks or scratches again for 50 year old record a clean copy! No writing or ring wear on label.

Side One: Co-Co

Side Two: Done Me Wrong All Right

03. Alexander Graham Bell released on RCA Records in 1971 in company sleeve. Sleeve in Good Condition, few creases but no rips, the name Alison written in pen. Vinyl in Good/VG Condition a couple of very light marks no scratches.

Side One: Alexander Graham Bell

Side Two: Spotlight

04. Poppa Joe released on RCA Records in 1971 in company sleeve. Sleeve in Good Condition, few creases, light ring wear, has £1.25 sticker in corner and has ‘Sugar Sugar by The Archies’ (obviously not original sleeve) and name N.Virrels. Vinyl in VG Condition no marks or scratches.

Side One; Poppa Joe

Side Two: Jeanie

05. Little Willy released on RCA Records in company sleeve in May 1972. Sleeve in Good general condition, there are creases and both sides had splits (which have been repaired by invisible tape) I’ve seen worse. Vinyl in VG Condition, no marks or scratches but Mick has written his name on the label (thanks Mick .. why did people used to take their records to parties or people’s houses? I had hundreds then thousands of singles starting in 72 and none ever left my house - don’t take it out or lend it out unless you can afford to lose it!)

Side One: Little Willy

Side Two: Man From Mecca

06. Wig-Wam Bam released on RCA Records in company sleeve in September 1972. Via Little Willy and this one the Sweet crossed over into a rockier pop sound, great records! Sleeve in Good Condition, quite a few creases (it is nearly 50 years old) but no marks or rips/splits. Vinyl in VG Condition, again no marks or scratches a good clean copy.

Side One: Wig-Wam Bam

Side Two: New York Connection

07. Blockbuster! Released January 1973 on RCA Records in company sleeve, one of the most famous ‘Glam Rock’ records of all time (as in every Glam Rock compilation CD that I’ve ever purchased - and I’ve purchased loads I love Glam - Blockbuster! is on all of them) Sleeve in Good general condition no creases like some of the others but there is a rip on the round opening that has been repaired. Vinyl in VG Condition a couple of very light marks (hardly noticeable) no scratches again a good copy not only for the age but considering how massive this record was it’s brilliant.

Side One: Blockbuster!

Side Two: Need A Lot Of Lovin’

08. Hell Raiser released in June 1973 on RCA Records in company sleeve. Sleeve in VG Condition, few creases no rips or splits. Vinyl in VG Condition, few light marks no scratches.

Side One: Hell Raiser

Side Two: Burning

09. The Ballroom Blitz released in September 1973 on RCA Records in company sleeve. The band were really on a roll now and this run of singles from Blockbuster! right though until 1975’s Action were brilliant (you could actually start this Glam run from Little Willy) Sleeve in Good general condition I’ve seen a lot worse but does look old has creases and few rips along the opening plus has a split seam that has been repaired with invisible tape. Vinyl in VG Condition couple light marks, no scratches, plays perfectly.

Side One: The Ballroom Blitz

Side Two: Rock & Roll Disgrace

10. Teenage Rampage released in January 1974 on RCA Records in company sleeve. Another Glam classic, they keep on coming! Sleeve in VG Condition, this one just has a few creases, no rips/splits or marks. Vinyl in VG condition, again a really nice copy considering the age and popularity of these singles they are all in great condition - I’ve purchased records from charity shops from the 1990’s that are far worse!

Side One: Teenage Rampage

Side Two: Own Up, Take A Look At Yourself

11. Turn It Down released in November 1974 on RCA Records in company sleeve, Sleeve in Good condition has a few creases and some small tears around the round opening but not too bad also has small 50p sticker in corner (must be second had price as far as I remember singles were about 75p then) Vinyl in VG Condition another nice copy no scratches just couple very light marks but none of the singles have any ring wear on labels

Side One: Turn It Down

Side Two: ... Someone Else Will

12. Fox On The Run released in March 1975 on RCA Records in Company sleeve. The first of the Sweet’s singles that they wrote themselves. This unfortunately is the worst single in the batch, I am 99% sure I have a much better copy (I’ve got 2 or more of loads of Glam singles) if I can find it I will put it in. Sleeve in VG Condition few light creases no splits or rips. Vinyl in VG condition there are a few light marks but no scratches the thing that lets it down is some fool has written 532 in big black letters on the label then scribbled thru it and put a sticker on with 5178 (I have always hated any sort of writing on the label even just a name)

Side One: Fox On The Run

Side Two; Miss Demeanour

13. Action released in July 1975 on RCA Records in company sleeve. Brilliant single, Sleeve in Good Condition, not many creases few very small marks around the round hole where single has probably caught it while being put back in but really good otherwise, Vinyl in VG Condition, few very light marks, no scratches again ****** writing on label not too large and on B-Side but I wish people wouldn’t write on records’ this one says S-166 whatever that means.

Side One: Action

Side Two: Sweet F.A.

14. The Lies In Your Eyes released in January 1976 on RCA Records in company sleeve. Sadly the start of the bands singles not charting for a few years. Sleeve in VG Condition, few light creases and £4.00 price sticker that should come off with lighter fuel (I’ve run out) Vinyl in VG Condition, no scratches another clean copy.

Side One; The Lies In Your Eyes

Side Two: Cockroach

15. Stairway To The Stars released in July 1977 in Black Company sleeve. This like the last didn’t chart. Sleeve in VG Condition, just a few creases, Vinyl in VG Condition, no scratches or marks nice copy has a stamp on label not sure if it’s an Ex Radio Station copy or is a record shop (bloody stupid if it is!)

Side One: Stairway To The Stars

Side Two: Why Don’t You Do It To Me

16. Love Is Like Oxygen released in January 1978 on Polydor Records in company sleeve. A change of record label and a change of luck the first single to chart in the U.K. since 1975 and the last hit for an original (not re released) song. Sleeve in VG Condition. Vinyl in Ex Condition no marks or scratches.

Side One; Love Is Like Oxygen

Side Two: Cover Girl

17. Call Me released in March 1979 on Polydor Records in a company sleeve. By now a three piece Brian Connolly having left and vocals being shared by Steve Priest and Andy Scott (this one is sung by Steve Priest) sleeve in VG condition, few light creases/marks. Vinyl in Ex Condition no marks or scratches looks hardly played.

18. Give The Lady Some Respect released in 1980 on Polydor Records in company sleeve. Steve doing vocals on this one as well. Sleeve in VG condition few light creases and marks, Vinyl in Ex Condition, no scratches or marks.

Side One: Give The Lady Some Respect

Side Two: Tall Girls

19. The Six Teens/Action released in 1984 on Anaglam Records in picture cover. As the label name states it re released Glam Rock records this re release of two of Sweets hits didn’t chart but great record! Sleeve in VG Condition VG Condition slight bit of creasing and ring wear but generally really good. Vinyl in Ex Condition no marks or scratches.

Side One: The Six Teens

Side Two: Action

20. It’s it’s ... The Sweet Mix released in 1984 on Anaglam Records in Picture cover as a Rare Juke Box only single (Juke box records were pressed like normal but the Center wasn’t coloured in, normally silver, leaving the record all black, you can feel the indent of where the writing is but can only see if held up to light) A mega mix of 4 of the Sweets biggest hits by Sanny X to promote the then new greatest hits album. (The 4 songs mixed up are Blockbuster/Teenage Rampage/Hell Raiser/Ballroom Blitz) Sleeve in VG Condition few light marks, Vinyl in Ex Condition no marks or scratches.

Side One: It’s Its ... The Sweet Mix

Side Two: Fox On The Run

21. Fox On The Run released in March 1975 in the USA on Capitol Records in company sleeve with large centre hole. Sleeve in Good general condition no many creases but seams split and repaired with invisible tape. Vinyl in Ex Condition, no marks or scratches.

Side One: Fox On The Run

Side Two: Burn On The Flame

22. The Sweet’s Biggest Hits released in December 1972 on RCA Records as vinyl album with gloss front sleeve. The Sweet’s first ‘Best Of’ collection, the later ones had obviously more hits but this one holds a place in a fans heart!) Sleeve in Ex Condition, no ring wear, no marks still nice gloss on front cover. Disc in Ex Condition no marks or scratches and no ring wear on label.

Side One: 01. Wig-Wam Bam, 02. Little Willy, 03. Done Me Wrong Alright, 04. Poppa Joe, 05. Funny Funny, 06. Co-Co

Side Two: 01. Alexander Graham Bell, 02. Chop Chop, 03. You’re Not Wrong For Loving Me, 04. Jeanie, 05. Spotlight

23. It’s It’s ... The Sweet Mix released as a 12” Single in 1984 on Anaglam Records in picture sleeve, released in connection with the Disco Mix Club was also released as a 7” single to promote the then new greatest hits album. Mixed by Megamixer - Sanny X and including the tracks: Blockbuster/Fox On The Run/Teenage Rampage/Hell Raiser/Ballroom Blitz. Sleeve in VG Condition no creases or ring wear but the edge of the sleeve along the opening the gloss finish is starting to peel off. Vinyl in Ex Condition no marks or scratches of any kind.

Side One: It’s Its ... The Sweet Mix

Side Two: Fox On The Run

24. Sweet 2th The Wigwam-Willy Mix released as a double ‘A’ side 12” single in 1985 on Anaglam Records in picture sleeve, released in connection with the Disco Mix Club. Mixed by Megamixer - Sanny X and including (Side A) Wig-Wam Bam/Little Willy/Funny Funny/Co-Co and (Side AA The Teen-Action Mix) The Sixteens/Lost Angles/Action/Rebel Rouser. Sleeve in VG Condition no creases or ring wear but as with last one the gloss finish on the sleeve is peeling off but it’s nothing that bad. Vinyl in Ex Condition, no marks or scratches.

Side A: The Wigwam Willy Mix

Side AA: The Teen-Action Mix

A brilliant bundle for any Sweet/Glam Rock fan, I do have a vinyl copy of the ‘Give Us A Wink’ Album but I’m not sure about the condition if I find it and it’s ok I will add it.

Superb start up for any fan who hasn’t got the vinyl, from their first hit in 1971 through until 1985 you only need one chart single ‘The Six Teens’ and seven non chart Singles - Lost Angles/4th July/Fever Of Love/Funk It Up (David’s Song)/California Nights/Big Apple Waltz/Sixties Man, to have a complete run of 7” singles for 15 years! Plus you have the rare Polydor singles here that were not hits and the very rare Jukebox copy of the first mega mix single.
