This is a lovely example of the COVER ONLY of the 1963 UK EP The Sweet Beat of Louise Cordet – that was released on the Decca label – DFE 8515 – and is in NEAR MINT condition. It does NOT contain the record.I was at a collectors fair recently, looking for records, and I found a box on the floor that oddly contained about two inches of empty EP covers. All were from the Decca Group. There were about twenty different ones – with some duplicates of a few of them. Some of them were not laminated and some of them had seams that had not been glued. None had ever had a record inside them with no ring-wear at all on either front or back. They must have been samples, for whatever purpose and as such they were all pretty much perfect. Mainly they were very boring – easy listening or band music. But a few were of interest – like this one.
The cover is perfectly clean on both sides, with no discolouration on the back. As I say – there is no ring wear, which is very unusual to see. The corners are perfectly sharp / crisp. There are no finger-marks, and no creasing to the laminate. Although, as I say, I think that it must have been a sample or printing test or whatever that was never used – it has nothing unusual about it. No ink-stamps, no writing, no odd colours or anything like that.
In addition to the actual cover there is also a slightly over-sized duplicate of the front panel image, printed on the same type of thin card, but it is not laminated. It is NOT a cut-down piece of a cover – it is an additional unused item that must have been included by the printer – again as a sample. It is near identical to the EP cover, with the Decca logo in the top right corner, but it does not have the catalogue number printed in the border area at the top left. Because it is a little over-sized and has been stored with the EP covers there are very small creases to the tips of this panel but these are very minor.
