Description
Here is an extremely RARE vinyl copy of The Tea Party's 1993 album "Splendor Solis". My step-dad used to book shows for them in the early '90s and was given this PROMO PRESS by the band themselves. He gave it to me years ago and it has been sitting amongst my collection ever since. It is very rare to see one of their LPs up for sale online and they usually range between $200-300.
Now, I'm not going to sugar coat it: this is a pretty battered record. I would rate the sleeve as G (perhaps even G-), although its not much of a sleeve, really. It is solid black with a small sticker in the upper right hand corner with the original artwork. As you can see from the pictures, there is also a small sticker reading "PROMOTIONAL COPY, Not for Sale" over the bar code. There are several bends, folds, bumps, scratches and dents. The bottom seam is also a bit loose.
Surprisingly, the record is in pretty good shape. I'd even rate it a strong VG+. There is very little background noise. There are a few little pops here and there, but almost nothing besides that. There are no skips that I could hear. Visually it looks pretty solid-- no major scratches, just a bit of dirt. Sounds very nice on my turntable.
Because of its condition, I would recommend that this record be for collectors or fans of this great Canadian band ONLY.
