Description
This will be one of the most popular records in your collection, I bought it today to resell, played it and want to keep it but where is the discipline in that. Many of you will remember Surfin Bird but there are eleven other songs that will make you wonder where the major labels were. This album is done well, the mastering is great, the sound great with deep tracks to keep it that way. There is a little white noise on start and between some tracks but finding a soft passage is rather difficult, most would want to rate this as vg+ but on my interpretation of Goldmine it is a solid vg with great sound, the cover is intact, no names on cover or label.
If you have never heard this album and you were a fan of the Surf and Car music, you will be amazed and these guys were a long way from the Ocean. One of the liner notes says it best, "The Trashmen come on like a combination of Gangbusters, a guided missle and a runaway train... and the young dancing set digs their sound the most" (1964).
This is probably one of the most undervalued albums in our collections and its rising value can serve as a reminder to the major labels, "Sometimes you screw up". As I hinted, if you like surf at all and this album doesn't rank in your favorites list right up there with many of your near mints... send it back for a full refund.
