The Vienna Octet plays Schubert Octet - Decca SXL 2028 Stereo - Recorded in 1958
The LP is in VG+/EX condition. There is a small amount of surface noise, a few pops and ticks, excellent sound.I heard one faint repetitive tick on side 2. The record was hard to get out of it's inner sleeve, and when I did I could see a small amount of what I can best describe as 'residue' on the LP surface. This doesn't seem to disturb the recorded sound, but as I said, there is some mild surface noise. I am no expert, but I imagine this residue will clean off with the correct equipment. Cover in EX condition. A few faint creases and marks and some age related fading.
This is a truly wonderful performance from the Vienna Octet. Willi Boskovsky leads with panache on the violin.
This LP comes from a large collection of records owned by a retired music professor that I am selling on his behalf. There are some gems in the collection which I will post for auction soon. I do no grade the records visually, I listen to them in their entirety and try to give as accurate description of the condition as I can.
