Up for sale today is a genuine hard to find American Vinyl LP album. The Village Fugs Sing Ballads of Contemporary Protest, Point of Views, and General Dissatisfaction. For some reason this limited release LP did not whizz to the top of the pop charts on its release in 1965 and the band later signed to ESP Disc a subsidiary of Fontana. This LP is on the Broadside Records label number 304. The Matrix numbers are exactly the same and I cant believe this went to a second pressing. Most copies are damaged in some way and this is no exception as it was cheaply made. The stiff card American style album looks absolutely fine at first glance and the photo of the band is great except for a tear at the bottom where the paper has been pasted on to the cover, which is how it was put together (they are all like this). Someone has written Wadsworth in pen on the back. The side spine is ok but the cover has ripped quite badly at the top and the bottom although it still holds together. I am grading cover as good condition, downgraded from very good due to rips and tear. By contrast the Vinyl is mostly in lovely shiny condition but with a couple of scuff marks on both sides. Vinyl graded as very good condition, downgraded from excellent due to scuff marks. I don't reckon it has been played much, least of all by me. I am content to make do with the re-issue from the late 1960s but this could be a must own for the collector as it is an original piece of beatnik history, prototype Hippy culture. bear in mind these what these guys looked and sounded like in 1965 when the Fab Four were just still wearing suits and you will see what I mean. They must have turned heads outside of Greenwich Village. Check out the music online on youtube if you want to hear what their music sounds like. Please do me a favour and look closely at the scans and ask me any questions and don't bid unless you are absolutely sure.
