"LA-LA-LA-LIES" b/w "THE GOOD'S GONE"
BRUNSWICK RECORDS O5968 ~ rare 1966 Release (recorded as dated 1965) pressing 7"
THE WHO had parted company and skipped contract from Decca's BRUNSWICK RECORDS. Most upset was Shel Talmy, especially when the band issued their best single 'SUBSTITUTE' with 'CIRCLES' on the flip! The ensuing lawsuits and name calling included the band dedication to Talmy 'Waltz For A Pig' in place of 'Circles', and Talmy releasing 'Legal Matter', and the finger pointing 'LA-LA-LA-LIES' with 'THE GOOD'S GONE' making the final statements. This was issued with express intent to dilute or capitalise on their growing fame.....but it fell short woefully. After the progression The WHO had made, this sounded already very dated! The psychedelic inclinations of the group veered away from the stoic Mod attitude that Talmy stuck with, though he got the picture when the hippy movement and Carnaby fashion showed that the new movement was surpassing everything that went before! This sold very few copies, and is EXTREMELY rare! A flop it certainly was, but it's sought now. It's in nice condition!Rarely seen., and very collectible
