The Wailers - Play Boy b/w Your Love

 

ORIGINAL COPY. FIRST UK PRESSING. Released 1965. Mono. Island Records, catalogue number; WI-206, matrix stampers; WI-206 A-1H / B-1 H.

 

Superb early Wailers single, in which they cheekily nick a bit of the Contours' Motown smash `Do You Love Me'. Both Wailers tracks were produced and recorded by Coxsone Dodd with Bob Marley taking the lead.

Valued at £90 in the RC price guide. Not currently available on eBay or GEMM. Last copy sold on eBay for $167, or £95 without a centre ( http://popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?itemnr=4735970341 , http://popsike.com/php/detaildata.php?itemnr=2544124856 ). 99p start. Get bidding.

 

Vinyl Condition, Visual:  EXCELLENT . Appears unplayed and unworn. Kept in stunning condition by the previous owner.

Vinyl Condition, Audible: EXCELLENT / VERY GOOD.

The A side has a few very light marks, nothing serious, the B side is slightly more worn but again has no major damage.

Label Condition :  EXCELLENT.

Red/white Island label. Complete with original centre. Very light rubs.

  UK Record Collector Grading System:

  MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

  EXCELLENT (US version of this term: Near Mint): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

  VERY GOOD (US version of this term: VG++): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (US version of this term: VG): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits etc.
