The Waterboys Mike Scott Unreleased Acetate Fishermans Blues Insane!
Sept 3.88 (6 Weeks before the actual release)
Imagine the rarest Waterboys record ever seen on ebay, treble it and you are not even close.
I have been selling records since 1984 and this is almost certainly the rarest record I have ever owned.
This 2-sided Acetate came directly from a Chrysalis employee, Chrysalis were the owners of Ensign records at the time.
Not only does this unique and almost certainly one off record have a different running order but it has less tracks than the finished album.
Not being familiar with the album I cant tell if the cuts are different on this version but as this seems so far off the final version it would not be a surprise if the versions on here are different.
Twa Recruitin Sergeants appears on this acetate but not on the album nor any other vinyl album that I could find, it has appeared on a multi disc CD box set.
The sleeve whilst a little Grubby is a working document with a couple of PRT labels on the front with tracks and instructions to shorten and change general production.
This is an incredible insight into how the records tracks and lengths go from an initial stage of feeling they were there and finished to a complete change.
Of course at this time they also had to consider the length in times of the cd's which I believe was 45 minutes, with this in mind I can see on the second label on the sleeve that the 11 tracks come to 43 minutes and I think the finished vinyl release was 13 tracks.
The record itself is in very good condition and plays superbly well but as with all acetates I would not suggest repeated plays.
The sleeve as you can see shows the workings of an engineer and producer getting it just right but there are no seam splits.
This is one of many items from my vinyl vault, they a carefully stored with the sleeves and vinyls separated (unless sealed) and will be posted this way to ensure that the item arrives in the condition as stated.
