Description

The closer you look, the more of a real artifact this is...The back cover is a schizoid mix of fan club breathlessness (Roger's blue eyes, Keith being 19 and into breeding chickens, here's the fan club address, words like "sensational," "sharp dresser")) and nods toward mod in its arty form (Pete's into Stockhausen and painting, John plays the french horn, words like "experiment," "progress"). It's enough to know that it's only their second album, and the second track is already the goofball wtf-is-this "Boris the Spider" and yet "A Quick One" is an honest-to-god mini-opera. So the sleeve comes by its schizo honestly. As the slightly effortful liner notes tell us, the band is a mix of "power, guts, and thoughts." That's about right!
This is a lovely copy of the US stereo release from 1967, the Gloversville NY pressing. The vinyl is pristine throughout, with one exception: a light tick for about a minute on Side 2 Cut 1. The sleeve is as you see it here, a touch of ringwear on the front, a cut-out corner, otherwise very sound.
