Description
This record has never been played. It's still in the original wrap it came in, but the perforation is partially torn. We presume the record is mint condition inside.
Here's some info about this release that we found online (although we're not sure if this was "unreleased." Test pressing are unreleased, but we're not sure if there was a retail/stock version of it or not.)
It is an UNRELEASED Classic Records 12" double sided single of The Who's "The Kids Are Alright"/ "I Can't Explain" from the LP "My Generation". This highly collectible test pressing is from the first stamper and approximately less than 20 exist depending on the title. Test pressings reflect the closest you can get to the lacquers and hence have a special collectible value and store of value.
When Classic Records re-issued "My Generation" by The Who they received the original Shel Talmy masters from which the songs "Much to Much", "Goods Gone", "The Kids are Alright" and "Can't Explain" were cut as singles at 45 rpm in pure MONO. The plan was to issue a series of 12" singles which never happened and the sides were never released. Only a few 12" two sided test pressings exist with the couplings "Much to Much / "Goods Gone" and "The Kids are Alright" / "I Can't Explain". These Classic Records 200g Super Vinyl Profile 45 rpm test pressings represent the ultimate in un-issued Who collectibles.
*45 rpm records have long been recognized as providing a higher fidelity musical experience resulting purely from the cartridge being able to extract more of the nuance from the complex vertical and horizontal groove modulations in stereo LP’s. Further, Classic Records 45 rpm “single sided” pressings dramatically reduce the mechanical resonances created by the cartridge during playback by allowing these resonances to be more fully transmitted to and absorbed by the turntable platter.
