The Who ~ My Generation ~ Brunswick LAT 8616 ~ 1st Press Mono 1B/1B ~ VG/VG/EX

With its ferocious blend of grungy distortion, rumbling bass and percussion, and brutish vocals, 'My Generation' became the blueprint for much of the subsequent garage rock, heavy metal, and punk.

Quite an acheivement for any band, let alone as a debut LP. This is historic stuff indeed

The album really pushed boundaries of popular music, with Pete Townshend's fiercely original guitar experiments predating the innovations of his later American rival Jimi Hendrix

>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<

Vinyl condition*: VG-

Labels: Both sides are clean with some noticeable spindle marks

Spindle hole: There is some wear to the edges of the label, especially side 1

Playing surface: Both sides look good. When turned to the light there are hairlines, light scuffs and handling marks on both sides, There is also 1 cm deep scratch through side tracks 5-6, but it plays right through with only a light effect on sound

Run Off: Its quite swirly and lightly marked

Sound*: VG-

After listening right through this album, the sound is good, however there is background noise, and in places some pops and clicks. The sound has that distinctive early mono sound, with rounded bass and lots of high end. No skips or jumps.

Overall its a good listen, but it does loose some of its clarity in places.

Cover & sleeve*: EX

Spine: Its really nice with clear text, pinched at the edges.

Seams: No splits, very tidy and straight

Opening: It is a bit curvy in places but no damage to the edges

Front Cover: Very shiny, great colours. There is ring wear and creases at the edges, but it still looks great.

Back Cover: As its unlamented there are some small light stains, ring wear and light creases, but for 50 years its still really good

Sleeve: The anti stat inner is nice

Overall this copy won’t satisfy some collectors, but this is a good entry level copy which provides a great sleeve and a record that plays right through, albeit with a sound that isnt perfect by any means, but is a good player which has that authentic sound. A rare LP and this getting hard to find in any condition
