This is the ULTIMATE version of Quadrophenia. That is not just my opinion, it is also the opinion of WhiteFang, THE AUTHORITY on The Who. And yes, this is a legitimate RARE Out-Of-Print 1973 1st pressing. Just check the OBI. (ECPJ-9 10-TR)

Ever wonder why you don’t see the CBS/Sony Japanese 1st pressing for sale on ebay?
This is because The Who enthusiasts won’t let them go. The last CBS/Sony Quadrophenia sold on ebay was a 2nd pressing that I sold in 2012. And as good as that copy is, it cannot touch the sound quality of the Japanese CBS/Sony Quadrophenia 1st pressing!

Let’s be blunt. This is a very difficult recording to get right. Other releases of Quadrophenia either sound dull (dead) or hot (with those sizzling cymbals). They lack the air, transparency, detail, dynamics, etc., of the Japanese CBS/Sony Quadrophenia 1st pressing. It is not even close. And I have heard them all (UK Track, later re-issues, etc.).

Record 2, Side B of this album is my favorite The Who music. Doctor Jimmy roars in with Keith Moon’s drums. His cymbals finish correctly without that hot re-mastering. The storm sounds seem real. The decay on each note and word sung finish completely. No other version of this album does this. No other.

And here is the great news. This copy is NEAR MINT PLUS. Many would consider this copy MINT. This copy comes ABSOLUTELY COMPLETE.

CONDITION

Vinyl: NEAR MINT PLUS. All of the original shine is quite apparent.

Labels: NEAR MINT. Very faint spindle marks that are not visible unless viewed at an angle. Definitely not scratches.

Playback Sound: NEAR MINT PLUS. Absolutely STUNNING and flawless.

Cover/OBI: NEAR MINT PLUS. The gatefold sleeve has negligible wear. Very, very slight at two corners. Very small abrasion near bottom on front cover and a tiny one at the top edge. The cover front, back, interior gatefold and OBI have zero aging. Near perfect!s Outstanding for a 41 year old record.

Booklet: NEAR MINTPLUS. Absolutely no issues. Flat, crisp and unmarked.

Original Inner Sleeves: NEAR MINT PLUS. These are the CBS/SONY inner sleeves that are similar to the MFSL, only better. This was when record companies cared about the audio consumer!
