For an album that is 42 years old I will say that this is an extraordinary example of this 1974 UK Track pressing of The Who’s penultimate masterpiece. Purchased on the secondary market in an advertised near mint condition without question this is an honest appraisal. A visual inspection of the disc reveals no defects. I looked critically under bright light and didn’t see anything wrong. I listened to the album on my Grados to confirm the audio matched the caliber of the visual inspection and I was not disappointed. As a quick aside I will say that a listening of this original mix is interesting compared to the contemporary remasters; it just sounds more real I guess. For example Moon’s drums sound deeper and the cymbals and his washes sound brighter. Sorry, I’m a drummer. And in light of the current political environment ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ has never quite sounded so good. Sorry again. Beyond saying the vinyl is near mint I would assign the quality a score of 96. Truthfully I need a professional vinyl cleaning system because there may well be a 99 in this vinyl. Upon my purchase the album was placed into a Mofi sleeve. The jacket is of the same quality as the vinyl and I tried to capture this in the pictures. There is some minor wear in the corners and a nominal wear on the back of the jacket from the album being inside for so long; and I feel like I’m nitpicking: Anyone outside of the LP community would look at the jacket and say it was perfect and I hope this comes through in the pictures. Also, an easy 95 score, maybe even a little more. Jacket remains in the protective plastic sleeve that it arrived it. Finally, regarding shipping the album is secured within cardboard inside a Whiplash record mailer to insure a safe trip.
