Historic MGM / Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Memorabilia from Saturday's Toys presents...  an original sound track from The Wizard of Oz

Features Judy Garland, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley and Ray Bolger.  This particular album was first released in 1956 during the film's first broadcast on nationwide television.

When the film was broadcast on December 9, 1962, one of the program's sponsors was the Proctor and Gamble Company.  As such, the company took advantage of the film's growing popularity among baby boomers and included this LP album, along with other Wizard of Oz merchandise (hand puppets, etc.).  The result was one of the highest televised rating for any broadcast in film history.

While the 1956 album was released as E3464, by 1962 the album was updated as PE3464 ST (stereo) and provided a technological break-thru that was widely received in homes throughout the United States.

Vinyl disc is in excellent condition with no visible scratches; but offered only for collectors; not guaranteed for audio fidelity.

Lower edge of jacket cover has some separation that can be addressed by a future owner. Still, a fantastic example of a 1962 LP record that survives to tell the story of Dorothy and the "yellow brick road"... along with the immortal telling of "Over the Rainbow."

In that light, we are subsidizing shipping charges for many First Class listings and we are glad to combine shipping for multiple purchases in order to reduce costs whenever possible.  Simply let us know before processing payment for the items selected and we'll be glad to revise and forward a final invoice to reflect the combined shipping price.
