Description

An original very 1st press of THE YES ALBUM on Atlantic Red & Plum. Matrix A1/B1. The very early 1st copies are easily identified by the fact they pre-date YES moving to Rondor Publishing. The 1st copies exhibit 'Campbell Connelly' publishing. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill Deluxe gatefold. Also included is the original generic white inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. 
Vinyl (Ex) In beautiful condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with only very slightest deviation in one or two spots. Now, anyone familiar with YES audio will no doubt be aware that a lot of their audio it very fussy - extremely prone to interference spoiling the listening experience. I'm pleased to report that these really early plum copies are super high quality. And importantly it's been really carefully looked after - all that delicate detailed audio is still intact for the listener to take in. This copy is, perhaps, one of the best examples of this title I've witnessed. It's is not perfectly clean through out...but it's not too far off that standard either. Predominantly a very high quality rendition with super sonic purity. A really clean player throughout. All I could make out was a few light crackles in one passage per side [e.g. intro to side 2]. A very polished performer which a collector could rely on to give them the ultimate YES rendition.
Cover (Ex-) Usually surfaces looking pretty worn....but this example bucks the trend and has been well cared for. First thing to mention is that the surfaces are pretty decent nick with little surface wear evident at all. As a result those blacks are preserved and the aesthetic is impressive. The interior looks really nice with just some light handling. There's edge wear in places, but nothing epic. A slight bit toward the top f the rear opening. The spine looks really good too - not perfect....but well above average. The text is still pretty much all legible. Overall the cover retain excellent rigidity. A very fine specimen.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. With a couple of small splits that have been taped up.
