International Allied Records 'Ltd' 1A420. Disc and cover EXCEL. Fans of The Phanton Surfers take note: The first (and last) album from 'The Boys With That Great New English Sound' (and fake English accents). At the hight of Beatlemania, rumours that they were the Beatles incognito propelled their 45 of 'Roses Are Red My Love' into the American Top 40 (the song of the same name included on this album is NOT that hit -Producer Bob Gallo IS a genius!). I was amazed then, and I am amazed now. A source of endless inspiration (if not wonderment) over the years, not just musically, but of the entire business of popular entertainment. The Fleshtones too were moved to 'take the mask' as well as capes, most notably for our 'Farewell To New York' show at the Underground, 1980, as well as a bewildering Hallowe'en appearance at 'The 3 Weeds' Sydney, Australia in 1991.
