The Concert Of The Century At Carnegie Hall. Carnegie Hall Society, 1976 first pressing.
Deluxe leather bound, #409 of 1000 copies. The book which comes with the package, has a photograph, of each of the 6 conductors or virtuoso soloists. The photo of each artist overlaps a page beneath which has the signatures signed in ink of Leonard Bernstein, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Vladimir Horowitz, Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich and Isaac Stern. These autographs (in my opinion) are probably one of the fine autographs to be found of each one. They are clean, clear and beautifully penned. You would be hard pressed to find a better example of each artist. Issued to commemorate the famous concert-celebration held by the Carnegie Hall Society on Tuesday 18th May, 1976, in honor of the 85th anniversary of Carnegie Hall and the establishment of its national endowment fund. This package was not sold it was given to the benefactors of the New York philharmonic Orchestra, even the labels on the records differ in color from the record which was sold. Elegantly housed in full Samoa calf portfolio with handmade French marbled endpapers. please review the photos carefully before bidding. Please e-mail me if you want additional photos. The outer protective cover is in fair condition with color fading and a few small tears, the leather binder is in excellent plus condition the records appear to have never been played and have no scratchs near mint to mint condition.
