Description

Thelonious Monk      Monk's Music      Riverside 1102 stereo black label deep groove

Thelonious Monk (p), John Coltrane, Coleman Hawkins (ts) Gigi Gryce (as), Ray Copeland (t), Wilbur Ware (b), Art Blakey (d)  Recorded 1957

 Black and silver microphone label and deep groove both sides.  "553 West 51st. New York 19, N.Y." address on back cover.

Really nice true stereo recording.

 Record looks gorgeous and plays very quietly and beautifully at M-.  No scratches and no scuffs. Grooves look very glossy and bright and record looks litle played.  About as nice a copy as you could find.

Cover is strong VG++

The front "frame style" cover is beautiful; very bright and glossy with little or no wear wear visible. Front has factory "Stereophonic" sticker.  Back cover has light to moderate wear with hint of ring wear at the top and very small writing under tune list in pencil (?).   No split seams. Little or no wear on seams.  Corners are all tight and sharp. If not for the hint of ring wear on the back, I'd call it M-.

  I WILL BE RUNNING WEEKLY AUCTIONS OF 50s and 60s JAZZ LPS INC BLUE NOTE  1500s PRESTIGE NYCs TRANSITIONS ETC. MANY WEEKS AND SOME HIGH END ITEMS TO COME.

 My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
