Record : Tihomir Asanovic- 'Pop' - (Jugoton LSV 63055) - 1976 Condition (Record/Cover): VG+/VG++
The big one! This has been blowing up for those in the know for a few years now - Rarely seen in former yugoslavia or on ebay so now is your chance to scoop one up! 'Mali Crni Brat' is just chunky grooove - It just cranks along funkin' up a storm with the lovely (ahem) zdenka belting out the vocals...and then Asanovic gets busy on keys...It's ruddy brilliant trust me. 'Skakavac' could be described as a really horny instrumental jazz funk cut - gets my vote anyway. 'Plelboj' is the bands take on latin jazz funk - Again this is instrumental and it wigs out half way through which suits me just fine. 'Usamljena Devojka' gives us a stinking hot opening beat - Just slow rolls and kicks - then comes in the squelchy synths and we are off into a very very funky midtempo cut. 'Dodji Drugi Pet' again has zdenka cracking one out over another super horny jazz funker.
Flip over and 'Hiljadu Zena' is *another* lovely JB stylee groover. 'Ekspres Novi Sad' has the band cuttin loose and just going hell for leather! Mad fast horny horns, chuggin bass and a jazz funk groove that would make the dead dance! The drummer even throws into a nuts jazz drum solo at the end and it goes all batacuda!
The record is damn rare so it has a modest reserve - Its so hard to get this record in *any* condition. It has some fine paper scuffs and one bigger mark which is inaudible. It also does have some surface noise in the quiet moments and on the last track of side 2 - which is a solo piano track - The rest of the lp plays just dandy.
