Time-Life Records "Giants of Jazz" Series: COMPLETE SET of 28 Boxed Sets w/ 3 records each; Totals 84 LPs.
We are offering the complete set of 28 Boxed LP's issued in 1982 with FREE SHIPPING. Others may be offering similar but if they do not contain 28 boxes they are NOT COMPLETE. The series began in 1978 and concluded in 1983.
Each Box Set is dedicated to one artist (or, as in one case, 1 instrument: the guitar) and contains 3 LPs and a Booklet with a history, photos and liner notes of each track of that artist. Additionally, an 8 3/8 inch x 8 3/8 inch print of the artist's illustrated portrait, which is also affixed to the cover of each box, is included inside the booklet and this print is suitable for framing.
This collection was previously owned by an audiophile / musician who gently played or in some cases never played some of the albums. Close visual scrutiny reveals no scratches, but there are occasional very light scuffs which should not effect playback. Some records have light lint / dust particles from static cling, the result of interaction with the mylar lined paper sleeve. Regrettably, I do not have a disc cleaner to remedy this minor condition. Overall grading of the records is Near Mint to Near Mint Minus.
We don't pretend that the boxes are flawless or close to. Overall, the exterior silver foil boxes are rated collectively at a grade of Very Good Minus or Good Plus with shelf wear and scuffing around the extremities ranging from very light, to some with noticeable scratches or stains or small dents and/or creases to some edges of the box. NO SPLIT CORNERS! Box #1 shows the most discoloration along the top edge (See image) and Box #23 had a heavy creases / dents along the edges suggesting that it may have been received that way via its delivery in the mail (See image). Remember, these records were subscription based sales and received on a monthly basis.
With the exception of the Sidney Bechet booklet, in which the owner made notations and underscoring throughout, the interior of all the other booklets are clean, tight and mark-free. Just seven of the twenty-eight booklets covers have some dog-eared corners or light creases the result from re-insertion back into the box over the years. After 34 years in his procession, the collector needs to down-size and is asking our assistance in finding a new home for this treasure. We are sure that you will be delighted with series.
