Description

This 45 RPM vinyl record by The Tropics, titled "Time” flip side “As Times Gone," is a first edition release from Columbia in 1967.


The Tropics, from Tampa FL defeated over a thousand bands to win the International Battle of the Bands in Chicago to land their Columbia contract. The single has recently been re-released but THIS is the 1967 original.


The high-fidelity recording features a mix of rock and garage psych genres, with vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, percussion, bass guitar, electric guitar, tambourine, and drums.


The record grading is good (G+) to very good plus (VG+), while the sleeve is aftermarket.


The band opened for the likes of The Who, Herman’s Hermits and the (Young) Rascals. Buddy Pendergrass later went on to be a founding member of the theatrical glam rock band White Witch. Bassist Charlie Sousa later played with the New Rascals and has become one of Florida’s premier music historians.


I knew this band personally—even lived in the White Witch studio for a time after that band split.


About the record:

TIME. has some crackle at the start but song on play sounded great .


AS TIMES GONE also has some crackle at the intro and a bit in the bridge and after end.


Label has some minor wear and one side has a shadow of my name on it.


Some scuffs on each side but no radical chips or anything that I can see. I am not a professional record dealer-just an old lady selling my collection to pay medical bills📦
