Description
For sale is Tom Tom Club's self titled first album, originally released in 1981 by Sire Records. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers WW1/WW1 followed by what appears to be a tipped over wine glass. This actually represents a Winchester rifle, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first pressing and was made at Capitol's Winchester, Virginia plant. I bought this new, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. I always put my records directly into a protective inner sleeve, thus preserving the vinyl and any inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come originally with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded as VG+ because of stress cracks along the edges and spine and edge and corner rubs. The spine has color loss because of these cracks and rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent with faint sleeve marks, and play graded as Near Mint, a perfect sounding pressing. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment and still has a lot of life yet. This is the best copy of this record that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find this album in this condition. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection.
