Further Notes: Tom Waits first LP as a promo with DJ sticker is still one of the great debuts of rock, with classics such as “Ol’ 55” becoming FM radio staples for years to come. The man is still going strong and his records are collectable and rarely get reissued properly. (as evidenced by the farce that was the reissuing of the first four records in his cannon by Rhino a couple of years ago – they have since rectified the situation but none sound as good as this cut) This is the Artisan mastered MONARCH pressed LP for promotional purposes and it’s becoming common audiophile knowledge that of all the pressing houses that Warner and Atlantic used, MONARCH was the best of the bunch – records that were pressed using the same stampers didn’t sound as amazing for some reason if they were pressed at another facility like Presswell. Being a promo, the stampers are especially low and fresh so the sound is strong and vibrant. (later pressings used these stampers but they were worn out by that time)
I am a record collector with many doubles of LP’s (the nature of collecting!) and shrinking shelf space. I have made it my aim to rid myself of doubles and triples of records that I have picked up over the years and my loss is someone’s gain (hopefully!) Good luck with your bidding!
