Description
ANTHONY WILLIAMS Life Time Blue Note BLP 4180
Up for auction is an original Blue Note mono Review Copy of Anthony Williams debut lp for Blue Note, "Life Time". Features an all-star quintet (with varying bass players) including Sam Rivers, Herbie Hancock and Bobby Hutcherson. Recorded when Williams was just 18 years old!! Mid 60s avant and fairly free form music that is compositionally dense for an 18 year old. Stellar playing on this one. Essential mid 60s avant-jazz, especially for Tony Williams and Sam Rivers fans.
DEAD WAX INFO: Side 1 has BNLP - 4180 - A etched into the dead wax. Side 2 has BNLP - 4180 - B etched into the dead wax. Both sides have the Plastylite "P" stamped into the dead wax. OG 1964 mono pressing with NO deep groove, and a Review Copy at that. VINYL VISUAL: VG with a few marks and moderate paper rash. Would grade higher if not for paper bag rash. Labels indicate just a handful of plays at most.
VINYL PLAY GRADE: VG+ at least with EXCELLENT fidelity and a low noise level, that may well even lower with a good cleaning and the usage of a system fitted with a mono cartridge. Above average in terms quality of play.
COVER VISUAL: VG with general wear. Not much rubbing or ring wear, but there is corner wear, and the seams and spine are showing cracks and minor flaking. Top seam has been clear taped from the middle to the opening edge. Catalogue sticker on rear. PLEASE SEE PICTURES.
Comes with original die-cut plain paper inners DETAILS ON SELLER AND SHIPPING
HELLO ALL. My name is Jamie, and I have been collecting records steadily for over 45 years. After a bit of a respite from selling on Ebay, I am back and will be selling a ton of stuff over the next few years. My tastes run all over the map, so there will be something for everyone. All opened items will be visually AND aurally graded. All Dead Wax info will be listed. Play grade is done on a Thorens TD 165 through Yamaha amplification and JBL reference headphones (treble set high so there will be no surprises when you get the item).
ALL ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED WITH PROPER MAILERS AND EXTRA PADDING, PARTICULARLY AT THE CORNERS. I HAVE MADE FAR TOO MANY PURCHASES ON EBAY WHERE THE ITEM HAS ARRIVED WITH DINGED CORNERS DUE TO INADEQUATE PACKAGING MATERIAL. BY USING FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP IN ALL FOUR CORNERS, YOU CAN BE ASSURED OF AN ITEM WITHOUT DINGED CORNERS (OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND FOR THAT MATTER). Non-tracked shipping throughout the U.S.A will be $13 CANADIAN per item, as will tracked shipping within Canada. Tracked shipping to the U.S.A. will be $16 CANADIAN for items under 500g, and slightly more for items over 500g. Most single sleeve items can be shipped as under 500g. Gatefolds and multi-sets will be over 500g.
Being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing ALL of the shipping material cost, and some of the actual postage cost.
If you have issue with an item, PLEASE work with me to achieve an outcome that will be to your satisfaction. I do offer full refunds (excluding cost to get it back to me), on any item that is not satisfactory. SINCE SHIPPING OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE (Thank You Canada Post), I will rarely list gatefolds or multi-items for sale overseas. IF ANYONE OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA IS CRAZY INTERESTED IN ANY ITEM, I WILL QUOTE SHIPPING ON REQUEST. Since a lot of the stuff that I will be selling is of higher end quality, rarely will things be offered overseas. Sorry folks. Again, I can consider requests on an item-by-item basis. THANKS FOR READING, everyone. Occasionally I will be selling rare and collectible CDs. Shipping obviously will be much less, around $5 CANADIAN within North America.
