Description

George Wein Presents The Toshiko Trio Toshiko Akiyoshi Storyville LP STLP 912. Original mono deep Groove pressing with orange label from 1956. Sidemen are Edmund thigpen and Paul Chambers. Tunes are: Between Me and Myself\It Could Happen to You\Kyo-Shu\Homework\Manhattan Address\Sunday Afternoon\Blues for Toshiko\Soshu No Yoru\Softly as in a Morning Sunrise.

Condition - Grading is Visual Under Bright Light

Cover is a nice VG+. The front cover graphics are beautiful and vivid. Some wear and light dinging on the corners. One small ding on the opening edge. The printing on the edge is sharp and clear.  Nice seams with no splits. The back cover shows some age toning and light soiling with initals stamped on the lower right corner.  Nice example of this classic 50's cover.

LP is a strong glossy VG+ with some light sleeve wear and spotting and a few hairlines, nothing feelable or serious. Labels are beautiful with a few light spindle marks visible under bright angled light.  Includes original rice paper sleeve that has done a good job of protecting the record but has splits so I will ship the record in another sleeve. A very pretty example of this rare and desireable early Storyville LP.

Overall not perfect or NM but a very nice copy of a rare jazz LP. This copy should make most collectors very happy. Check out my other auctions for more rare and interesting records. Winning auctions may be combined to save postage cost. Check out my feedback for results of recent rare record auctions.

Grading

Grading is SS (still sealed), NM, VG+, VG. The myriad of grading systems on Ebay is a good indicator of the subjective nature of grading. In my opinion NM is close to perfect with one or two very minor flaws, VG+ is above average and collectable and VG is average used condition but probably the best choice for playing. I'm a collector and try to describe LPs as accurately as possible, the way I would want them described to me. The pictures should at least give a good indication of the condition of the covers and labels. Please see my seller feedback for comments on my grading. If you don't agree with how I'm calling a record that is your privilege but with all respect please don't bid.
