Sheffield Labs Presents Tower of Power Direct 1981 Sheffield Lab 17. This vinyl LP is a direct to disc mastered audiophile record that is only available as this Sheffield Labs LP. Sheffield Labs was similar to Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs in that they also produced audiophile LPs in the 1970's and 1980's. But the Sheffield LPs were recorded live direct to the mastering disc and no tape is used. Cutting out one step of the recording process, leads to better fidelity. Sheffield said that half of their records received Grammy Award Nominations for best Engineered Album. The vinyl looks visually mint, but since I have not played it, I will grade it as mint minus. The jacket is mint minus as well and comes with the original audiophile protective inner sleeve and the protective bag for the jacket. Also includes the protective card board inner sleeve with photos and liner notes.
