Townes Van Zant US Reissue ST LP EX '78 Tomato TOM7014 Country Rock
US Reissue LP released in 1978 on Tomato Records. Cat: TOM-7014.
On his third album, Townes Van Zandt recut three crucial tracks from his debut album, "For The Sake Of The Song," "Waiting Around To Die," and "I'll Be Here In The Morning." It was some indication of the obscurity in which he remained enveloped, but no indication of the quality of his work. (Actually, Van Zandt rerecorded songs from his first album on his later ones because he disliked the earlier recordings.) As usual, his closely observed lyrics touched on desperate themes, notably in tbe mining ballad "Lungs," but they were still highly poetic, especially the album-closing "None But The Rain," which reflected on a failed relationship.
Tracks : For the sake of the song/ Columbine/ Waiting around to die/ Don't take it to bad/ Colorado girl/ Lungs/ I'll be here in the morning/ Fare thee well, Miss Carousel/ (Quicksilver daydreams of) Maria/ None but the rain.
There are a few light spindle marks on labels. Record has some light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles and is in EXcellent condition. Cover has a small deletion cut on bottom right cornerand minor scuffing on right hand corners and is in VG+ condition.
Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
