Description

Very Rare Tractor 12" LP. Original 1972 recording, Dandelion label no. 2310217. In truly impressive little played condition, both sleeve and vinyl. Play tested through both sides.

I think anyone looking at this listing will know exactly what this LP is but Google searching Tractor / John Peel will give a lot more information on this band John Peel supported and reveal what a rare cult LP this is.

This Album: Visually the LP surface is glossy and in excellent condition with no visible scratches even under strong light. I have just critically listened to the whole album with a decent hi-fi. There were no scratches heard (my definition of a scratch being a click or pop that repeats more than once on the same place around the grooves). Typical of vinyl there is the usual light surface noise between tracks and in exceptionally quiet moments when playing at robust levels but this is not noticed once the music gets under way. Otherwise it has a punchy open sound typical of the era (i.e. lacking the often oppressive over slick / over production of many current records) and no wear distortion I can notice. It would be my personal opinion it plays very close to how it would have when sold new in the late 60s. This is genuinely the LP I'll miss the most of the ones I'm listing over the next few weeks, firing out of a decent hi-fi the music is just so good.

The sleeve is very nice on both sides and crisp with minimal wear from inserting and removing record. There are no tears, stickers or sticker marks. No writing either. The spine is strong and the spine printing excellent as shown. The only aspect to mention is a short diagonal light crease (only seen in the right light) on the front cover bottom right corner just above the Dandelion logo from, I guess, where someone might have picked it up by the corner. The inner sleeve is a little crumpled but I think the original so I've never swapped for a better one.

The labels are both in excellent condition with no tears or writing and to my eyes little or no visible spindle marks.

The runout groove stamps are... Side 1: 2310217 A//2 > 420  1 1 1 - Side 2: 2310217 B//2 . 420  1 1 2

Price: I have based the buy-it-now price between recent actual sales and asking prices of the same album. If you have other views on value use the Best Offer option.

About seller: I bought my first record in 1969 (Canned Heat) and have enjoyed owning vinyl since. This is mainly for listening pleasure and I'm not a collector as such. Now and again I have bought used classic LPs and/or small collections to top up my records that now span over 50yrs. Currently I'm selling a few cherished items, duplicates or records that are too valuable to play regularly to fund another project hence this and other similar listings. Since buying my first record they have always been played on hi-fi systems with a good stylus and never cheap portable players, I never lent records out to anyone or took them to a party either! Most of the records I'm listing currently were originally sourced from a collector who would buy exceptional condition rare copies, play them a handful of times and then archive so protecting from wear that occurs when records are constantly removed and replaced in a cabinet to play over and over again.

Condition comments: As mentioned I am not a collector or record dealer so the condition comments are those of a private music enthusiasts opinion. However they are honest and should help judge the condition of this LP. I would encourage anyone thinking of purchasing to make contact through Ebay messages first and query any aspect of condition that is of particular importance.

Images: I have used high res images so you can hover over for the magnified area and see condition aspects in detail. I always struggle to get a decent image of an LP itself and any apparent marks will be reflections from the room on the glossy surface.

Postage: Free postage for this LP will be Royal Mail next day Special Delivery so fully tracked and insured. Given the value of this LP it will be sent in a box (as in the type boxed sets have) with bubble wrap either side of the LP, this will give far more protection than a standard LP mailer.  I will send promptly after payment is received, usually the next working day or possibly even same day if bought early am.

**Important note: If you live in the Highlands & Islands or any other area you know carries a surcharge please contact me before buying for a quote.

If you were near enough to us (Sawtry PE28 area of Cambridgeshire) to collect within a couple of days of purchase I would be more than pleased to allow collection with an examination & demo so I know it's handed over in perfect condition. If you wish this option please contact me BEFORE doing the buy so we can make sure arrangements would suit us both then I can change the listing to allow collection with cash payment.
