Traffic Mr Fantasy UK Island Mono lp ILP 961
Stunning pressing of this very rare lp.
Matrices ILP 961 A and ILP 961 B
The record is in near mint condition. It is flat and very clean and shiny: indeed it looks almost like new. There are no observable marks in normal light but in very bright light there are a couple of extremely wispy marks that make no difference to the sound which is flawless throughout. There are no obvious spindle marks indicating that the lp has been played, at most, a couple of of times. It will be very difficult to find a better copy anywhere.
The labels are in excellent condition. They are textured, pink, with the "eye" logo indicating a very first pressing. They are free from writing, rips, tears or stickers. There is a very small black dot (less than a mm across) which looks as if it was a pressing fault; other than that the labels are mint.
The cover is in excellent condition which is very unusual for this flimsy sleeve. There is one, not very obvious, laminate crease towards the middle of the front. There are no other creases. In particular, there are no creases at the edges. The edges and corners to the right on the front cover are extremely crisp which I have never seen on any other copy of this sleeve. Nornmally they are rather tired and dog eared; not these ones. There is a little light wear to the corners to the left of the front cover and some light wear (but no feathering) to the top inside edge where it has stuck to the laminate. There is also a little bumping to the corner of one of the flips. None of these flaws are very obvious but they are there if you look for them. In all other respects the cover is stunning. I have not seen a better example of this sleeve in any shop or record fair in forty years of collecting.
This is a copy that I am sure would satisfy even the most exacting of collectors. The slight wear to the cover is the only flaw and that really is not a major fault (see photos). In my opinion the lp is undoubtedly of investment quality. Happy bidding.
